Theoretical courses

Dive into the foundations of aviation with our Theoretical Courses. Explore the essential knowledge and principles that underpin the world of flight.

1. Theoretical examination

Theoretical training :

You can choose between two options for your theoretical training. You can take 60 hours of group training, or opt for a more intensive 40-hour program that is cost-effective. Training is generally presented in the form of lectures. At the end of this training, you'll have to pass a written exam organized by the Belgian aviation authorities. In addition, 10 hours of flight preparation will bridge the gap between theory and practical experience.

Theoretical exam :

The theoretical exam is organized by the Belgian aviation authorities, and you need to make an appointment to take it. These sessions are available throughout the year, and you also have the option of taking the exam through another European aviation authority. Once you've passed the theory exam, your certification will be valid in all EASA* countries.

Exam details :

The theory exam consists of multiple-choice questions covering the nine topics taught during the theory course. The entire exam is computer-based and can be completed in a single day. Initially, you will take all subjects at once, and a score of 75% is required for each subject. If you fail a subject, you have up to three attempts to retake it. You have 18 months to pass all subjects.

2. The English language proficiency test

Mastering Aeronautical English - FCL 055 VFR :

If you want to fly in controlled airspace in a non-French-speaking country, you'll need to take an oral English language proficiency test with an approved organization before you can sit the final exam. Once you have passed the language test, you will be issued with a certificate of proficiency, the validity of which will vary according to the level obtained. We therefore recommend that you take this test at the very end of your private pilot training. As our theoretical courses are given in English, you'll have plenty of time to acquire the aeronautical jargon in English and perfect your understanding of the language, if necessary. It's also by flying and communicating with air traffic controllers during your PPL practical training that you'll improve your fluency in aeronautical English.
